Vaccination at the clinic

Draft. This page has not yet been reviewed by the doctor.

Vaccines protect children from serious infections. Routine childhood vaccines are given at the clinic during opening hours.

Which vaccines are given at the clinic?

Routine childhood vaccines are given at the clinic. Please ask at the clinic, or call or message 0334 7563474, to check that the vaccine your child needs is available.

What is the EPI vaccination schedule in Pakistan?

Pakistan's Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) gives vaccines at birth, at 6, 10 and 14 weeks, and at 9 and 15 months. Your child's vaccination card shows which doses are due.

The national schedule can change. The doctor will confirm which doses your child needs from the vaccination card.

What should I bring?

Bring your child's vaccination card to every visit. If the card is lost, bring any record you have of earlier vaccines.

What if my child missed a dose?

A missed dose can usually be given late. The course does not normally need to be started again. Bring the vaccination card and the doctor will plan the remaining doses.

What should I expect after a vaccine?

A mild fever, soreness or swelling where the injection was given, and some irritability are common for a day or two.

Bring your child to the clinic if

  • the fever is high or lasts more than two days
  • your child cries for a long time and cannot be settled
  • the swelling or redness at the injection site keeps growing

Go to an emergency department if

  • your child has difficulty breathing
  • the face or lips are swelling
  • your child has a fit or becomes very drowsy

Can a child with a mild cold be vaccinated?

Usually yes. A mild cold without fever is not a reason to delay a vaccine. If your child has a fever or is clearly unwell, the doctor will examine your child and may advise waiting.
